PUIC Secretary General H.E. Prof. Mahmud Erol KILIC sent a message of condolences to Rt. Hon. Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi, Speaker of the Parliament of Uganda on the occasion of the natural disaster which afflicted some parts of his country recently.
In his message, Mr. KILIC ascertained that the fortitude, perseverance and resilience of the Ugandan Parliament, government and people will help overcome all hardships.
It may be noted that mudslides caused by torrential downpours have devastated some villages in the eastern parts of sisterly Uganda.
H.E. PUIC Secretary General Prof. Mahmud Erol KILIC held several meetings on the sidelines of the 16th Ordinary Session of the Conference of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union, held in Cairo, Arab Republic of Egypt on 2-4 March instant.
Mr. KILIC met with a number of Speakers of PUIC Member Parliaments who were participating in the Cairo Conference.
The meetings included their Excellencies the Speakers of the following parliaments: State of Kuwait, State of UAE, Syrian Arab Republic, State of Qatar, Sultanate of Oman, Republic of the Sudan, and Republic of Yemen. His Excellency also held meetings with Mr. Anders B. Jonhsson, IPU Secretary General as well as Secretary General of the African Parliamentary Union.
Discussion during these meetings focused on ways to strengthen contacts and cooperation between the PUIC and their respective parliaments and organizations in order to serve their common objectives.
Prof. Mahmud Erol KILIC , the Secretary General of the PUIC in a trip to the UAE , had a meeting with H.E Abdul Aziz Al Ghurair , Speaker of the Federal National Council of the United Arab Emirates and President of the PUIC Council on 24 February 2010. In this meeting the latest developments in the Islamic World , ways to activate the PUIC and enhancing parliamentary relations among the member countries were discussed.
PUIC Secretary General Prof. Mahmud Erol KILIC congratulated H.E. Mohammad Abul Kazem Zawi on his election as Secretary of the General People’s Congress of the Great Socialist People’s Libyan Arab Jamahiriya.
In his congratulatory message Prof. KILIC stated that the election of Mr. Abul Kazem Zawi is a shining proof of the great confidence the Libyan people and its General People’s Congress have in his honourable person.
PUIC Secretary General Prof. Mahmud Erol KILIC felicitated H.E. Mrs. Vernoica Nataniel Macamo Diovo on the occasion of her election as Speaker of the Assembly of the Republic of Mozambique.
Prof. KILIC wished Her Excellency all success and reconfirmed his readiness to continue cooperation with her and the august Assembly of the Republic of Mozambique.
H.E. Abdul Aziz Al Ghurair, Speaker of the Federal National Council of the United Arab Emirates met with H.E. Prof. Mahmud Erol KILIC Secretary-General of the PUIC at his residence in Speke Resort Hotel, in Kampala on 29/1/2010. The two sides reviewed the process of PUIC cooperation and coordination among its members to achieve their sublime objectives . His Excellency the Secretary-General expressed his congratulations and sincere wishes to His Excellency the Speaker of the UAE Federal National Council on his election as President of the 13th Session of the PUIC Council.
H.E. Ahmed Ibrahim Al-Tahir, Speaker of the Sudanese National Assembly received H.E. Prof. Mahmud Erol KILIC the Secretary-General at his residence in the Speke Resort Hotel on 29/1/2010, where they discussed future visions of the PUIC and the success of its programmes. The two sides valued the Secretary General ‘s visits to member countries, urging them to participate in meetings of the Union at various levels. His Excellency Ahmed Ibrahim Al Tahir, Speaker of the National Assembly of the Sudan praised the Parliament of Uganda for hosting the 6th Session of the Conference of the PUIC, and said that this session sends the message that Africa has especial importance. As it reflects the spirit of friendship and understanding between religions and in this regard he referred to the sponsorship of H.E. Yoweri Museveni, President of the Republic of Uganda and the Rt. Hon. Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi , the Speaker of the Parliament of Uganda who hosted the procedures of this session.
The S.G of the PUIC Prof. Mahmud Erol KILIC today 23rd of January 2010 met with H.E. Edward KIWANUKA SSEKANDI, the Speaker of the Parliament of Uganda in Kampala. During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the necessary coordination between the Secretariat General of the Parliament of Uganda and the Secretariat General of the PUIC for better arrangement to make the Conference successful. Also additional issues were discussed in connection with the coordination between Uganda Parliament and the PUIC. The Secretary General expressed his thanks and gratitude for H.E Speaker of the Uganda Parliament for hosting the Sixth Conference. The meeting was attended by Mr. Kyanjo Hossein, member of the Uganda Parliament and H.E. Ambassador Ali Asghar Mohammadi Sijani, the Assistant Secretary General of the PUIC.
H.E. the PUIC secretary General sent a congratulatory message to the Speaker of the Council of the Nation of Algeria.
He stated in the message addressed to His Excellency Abdel Qadir bin Salih that his reelection to this post is clear proof of his competence at the levels of the region and the Islamic World.
H.E. Professor Mahmud Erol KILIC, PUIC Secretary General met separately with His Excellency the Speaker of the Syrian People’s Assembly and His Excellency the Speaker of the Bahraini House of Representatives in Tehran, Islamic Republic of Iran.
H.E. Prof. KILIC held meeting with H.E. Mahmud Al-Abrach, Speaker of the People’s Assembly of the Syrian Arab Republic , on Wednesday 6 January 2010 . He also met with H.E. Khalifa Bin Ahmed Al Dhahrani, Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Kingdom of Bahrain on Sunday 10 January 2010.
Both meetings focused on important Islamic issues in general, as well as boosting cooperation between the PUIC and the two honourable Syrian and Bahraini Councils.
H.E. PUIC Secretary General Prof. Mahmud Erol KILIC sent a message of congratulation to H.E. Dr. Zainidin Kurmanov on the occasion of his election as Speaker of the Supreme Council ( Parliament ) of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Prof. KILIC stated that the election of Dr. Kurmanov reflects the great trust invested in him. He reaffirmed continuous cooperation with him and the Supreme Council. He also wished him success in his new mission.
The PUIC Secretary General H.E. Professor Mahmud Erol KILIC congratualted H.E. Taher Al-Masri for his appointment as Speaker of the Senate of the Hashmite Kingdom of Jordan.
In his congratulatory message, the Secretary General underlined that this appointment is shining proof of the competence of Mr. Al-Masri as an outstanding political leader at the level of the region and the Islamic World.
H.E. Professor Dr. Mahmud Erol KILIC, PUIC Secretary General, met with H.E. the Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives in Bandung on 8th December 2009. Prof KILIC discussed with H.E. Mr. Marzuki Alie the promotion and activation of mechanisms for realization the Union’s goals pursuant to the noble values of the Ummah. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the APA Conference.
H.E. Professor Dr. Mahmud Erol KILIC Secretary General of PUIC accompanied by Ambassador Siddiq Y. ABUAGLA Director of Cabinet attended the fourth Meeting of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly held in the historical city of Bandung 7-10 December 2009. The meeting addressed the theme the “Roles of Parliaments in strengthening Democracy prosperity, peace and justice in the Region”. The meeting was addressed by H. E. Dr. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono President of the Republic of Indonesia and H.E. Mr. Marzuki Alie the Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives. Professor KILIC discussed in his meeting with the Honorable Speaker of Indonesian House of Representatives Issues of promoting and activating the values and ultimate goals of the Union.
H.E. Prof . Mahmud Erol KILIC, PUIC Secretary General participated in the Parliament of the World’s Religions which was held on 3-9December 2009, in Melbourne, Australia. The Secretary General delivered a major speech before the participants in response to a request by the Council For a Parliament of the World’s Religions which made the invitation to Mr. KILIC.
Secretary General of the PUIC H.E. Prof. Mahmud Erol KILIC and Assistant Secretary General Amb. Ali Asghar Mohammadi attended the 34th PABSEC General Assembly which was held on 23-25 November 2009 in Moscow. In this meeting Prof. KILIC gave a talk on the importance of developing economic cooperation of OIC Member States with PABSEC countries which 3 of its 10 are also PUIC Member States.
Upon an invitation from IPU, Secretary General of PUIC, H.E. Prof. Mahmud Erol KILIC, attended the Parliamentary Hearing at the United Nations headquarters in New York which was held on 19-20 November 2009. H.E. Mr. Ban Ki-moon Secretary General of the UN opened the meeting with a speech. From PUIC member countries delegations from Algeria, Bangladesh , Benin, Indonesia, Palestine and Turkey were present. In two days of the meeting experts from the UN and affiliated organs gave detailed information about international response to the crisis on green recovery: solutions for a more sustainable economy, the social impact of the crisis: safety nets, public goods and worker’s rights, building greater transparency and accountability of financial systems.
Upon an invitation from Prof. Dr. Francis Lamand, President of the " Organization of Islam and the West" (based in Paris), Prof. Dr. Mahmud Erol KILIC Secretary General of the Parliamentary Union of OIC Member States participated in the International Conference on "Islam and the West: A partnership for the future" in Brussels from 10 to 12 November 2009.
Professor KILIC delivered a speech entitled " Dialogue between Islam and the West : from Islamic Philosophers Perspective”.

In his letter Prof. KILIC stressed the keenness of the Secretariat General to continue positive and constructive cooperation and coordination with His Excellency in serving our Islamic Ummah's Causes. The PUIC Secretary General also expressed his happiness to meet with His Excellency Dr. Fathi Sorour in Cairo, where he will chair the meetings of the ADHOC Committee to draw up a plan to reform the Union by developing its Statute and Regulations in December.
H. E . Prof . Mahmud Erol KILIC, Secretary General of the Parliamentay Union of the OIC Member States(PUIC) congratulated His Excellency Mr. Fouad Al-Mubaza'a on his reelection as Speaker of the House of Deputies of Tunisia.
In his congratulatory message Prof KILIC stressed their keenness at the PUIC General Secretariat to continue cooperation and coordination with the august House. He wished Mr. Mubaza'a total success in performing his tasks.
The PUIC Secretary General Professor Mahmud Erol KILIÇ expressed his strong condemnation and killings which targeted the Ministry of Justice and the Municipality building in Baghdad on Sunday 25th October instant.
His Excellency the Secretary General delivered a speech at the meeting of PAM on Saturday evening 24th October 2009, in Istanbul , in which he analyzed the depth of the Islamic civilization. He also stressed the necessity of the meeting of cultures, engaging in dialogue and exploring the horizons of joint action.
