The PUIC Secretary General H.E. Professor Dr. Mahmud Erol KILIC expressed strong condemnation and denunciation about the bombing which targeted worshippers in Zahidan city> In a message addressed to H.E. Dr. Ali Larijani, Speaker of the Islamic Parliament of Iran, Professor KILIC described the bombing as a cowardly terrorist act which resulted in the death of scores of innocent people.
The Secretary General also expressed condolences and consolations to the families of the dead and prayed for speedy recovery to the injured.
H.E. PUIC Secretary General Professor Dr. Mahmud Erol KILIC expressed his heartfelt condolences and consolations to His Excellency the Speaker of the Ugandan Parliament the Hon. Mr. Edward K. Ssekandi on the occasion of the explosions which took place in the capital Kampala recently.
In his condolences message, Mr. KILIC condemned these explosions, and stressed that they were targeting the stability and peace prevailing in Uganda, and that they seek to sabotage the existing strong bonds between Uganda and the Muslim world. Mr. KILIC described the explosions as a criminal and cowardly act. He expressed his condolences to the families of the victims, and wished speedy recovery to the injured.
H.E. Professor Dr. Mahmud Erol KILIC, PUIC Secretary General expressed his sincere condolences and consolation on the occasion of the passing away of His Eminence Sayyed Mohammad Hussein Fadhullah, the honourable Muslim scholar and thinker.
In a message of condolence sent to H.E. Speaker Nabih Berri, Speaker of the House of Representatives of Lebanon, Mr. KILIC stated that the dear departed has spent his prominent life defending the unity of the Muslim Ummah, supporting its crucial causes and calling for closing its ranks.
PUIC Secretary General sent a congratulatory message to H.E. Mr. Ali Larijani on his reelection as Speaker of the Islamic Parliament of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
In his message, Professor Mahmud Erol KILIC stated that this reelection is evidence of the valuable confidence accorded by the brotherly Iranian people and the august parliament to him as an outstanding political leader at the Iranian and Islamic Parliament levels.
PUIC Secretary General responded to an invitation to participate in Parliamentary Meeting on the occasion of the Third Forum of UN Alliance of Civilizations, which was held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on 27th May, 2010, and delivered a speech at the meeting.
During this meeting he also met some important personalities such as Mr. Jorge Sampaio, former president of Portugal and UN high representative for the Alliance of Civilizations.
Secretary General Prof. Dr. Mahmud Erol KILIC attended The 35th PABSEC (Parliamentary Assembly of Black Sea Countries) General Assembly which was held on 1 - 3 June 2010 in Serbian Parliament in Belgrade and in plenary session briefed the member states about the activities of PUIC as well as ways of cooperation with it.
Secretary General of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC) Professor Mahmud Erol KILIÇ strongly denounces the barbaric aggression and sea piracy perpetrated by Israel in international waters by attacking this morning the “Freedom Flotilla”, which is manned by civilians and carries humanitarian assistance to the blockaded inhabitants of Gaza Strip.
PUIC Secretary General participated in response to an invitation by the Parliamentary Assembly of EuroMed in a Meeting which was held in Istanbul on 21 – 22 May, 2010. He delivered a speech at the meeting on “Cultural Dialogue and Alliance of Civilizations”.
In response to an invitation extended by OIC General Secretariat, the PUIC Secretary General accompanied by the Assistant Secretary General, participated as an Observer in the proceedings of the 37th Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers, which was held in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, on 18 - 20 May, 2010. In his speech, which was circulated to the participating delegations, the PUIC Secretary General said that this session comes in the wake of the Extraordinary Open-ended Meeting of the PUIC Executive Committee, held on 10th May 2010, in Istanbul, which centered on the new settlements in Al-Quds which are detrimental to world peace.
PUIC Secretary General Professor Mahmud Erol KILIC Congratulated H.E. Haji Shukri Sheikh Ahmed on his election as Speaker of the Transitional Federal Parliament of the Republic of Somalia.
In his congratulatory message Professor KILIC said that this election reflects the high trust invested in the good person of Haji Shukri. He also reconfirmed his continuous cooperation with him and the august Somali Parliament.
PUIC Secretary General felicitated H.E. Mahmoud Al-Abrash on the occasion of his reelection as Speaker of the People’s Assembly of the Syrian Arab Republic.

Upon a kind invitation from the distinguished Lebanese Parliament, H.E. Prof.Mahmud Erol KILIÇ , Secretary General of the PUIC - accompanied by H.E. Amb. Ali Asghar Mohammadi, the PUIC Assistant Secretary General- attended – on Observer Statutes- in the "Water Forum in the Arab world and neighboring countries," which was held in Beirut from 13 to 15 May 2010, In his visit to Beirut, H.E. Secretary General, had the honour to have a meeting with H.E. Saad Al Hariri, the Prime Minister of Lebanon, Leader of the Movement of the Future, The two sides discussed means to promote the joint Islamic action and consolidate cooperation in matters of common concern among the PUIC Member Parliaments. The talks between the two sides included also the means to strengthening bilateral cooperation between PUIC and the Republic of Lebanon on issues of common interest.
On the side lines of the “ Water Forum in the Arab world and neighboring countries," which was held in Beirut from 13 to 15 May 2010, H.E. Prof. Mahmud Erol KILIÇ Secretary General of the PUIC – accompanied by H.E. Amb. Ali Asghar Mohammadi PUIC Assistant Secretary General- held a meeting with H.E. Mr. Mohammad Raad, the Leader of the Movement of Loyalty to the Resistance.
H.E. Secretary General also met with H.E. Mr. Nawar Al Saheli , and H.E. Dr. Imad Al Hout , Members of the Parliament of Lebanon, and discussed the topics and issues of promoting the Union.

The Secretary General and Dr. Halit Eren, Director General of the Research Centre for Islamic History, Art and Culture (IRCICA) signed an agreement of cooperation between the Centre and the PUIC in Istanbul on 11.5.2010.

H.E. the PUIC Secretary General met with the Speaker of the Ugandan Parliament the Hon. Edward Ssekandi on Monday morning 10th May 2010 before the start of the expanded Extraordinary Meeting of the Executive Committee. The Secretary General informed Mr. Ssekendi, in his capacity as President of the Union the arrangements being made for holding the meeting. He also informed the Ugandan Speaker that according to the programm of work Mr. Ssekandi shall deliver a speech before the participants.
H.E. PUIC Secretary General Prof. Mahmud Erol KILIC felicitated H.E. Mr. Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloev on his re-election as Speaker of the Majlisi Milli (Parliament) of the Republic of Tajikistan.
In his congratulatory message Mr. KILIC reconfirmed continued cooperation of PUIC with His Excellency and the Majlisi Milli of Tajikistan.
PUIC Secretary General Prof. Mahmud Erol KILIC congratulated H.E. Mr. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu on his election as President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
In his Letter of congratulation Prof. KILIC reconfirmed his desire to maintain and further strengthen friendly relations, personal and official, between the PUIC and the PA of the Council of Europe.
PUIC Secretary General Prof. Mahmud Erol KILIC felicitated H.E. Mr. Shukurjon Zuhurov on his election as Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Tajikistan.
In his congratulatory message Mr. KILIC expressed the view that the election of Mr. Zuhurov to this position reflects the credibility invested in his high person.
He also reconfirmed continuation of cooperation with him and with the House of Representatives of Tajikistan.
H.E. Prof. Mahmud Erol KILIC, PUIC Secretary General received in his office on 18 April 2010 Mrs. Conselo Vidal, UNDP Coordinator and Resident Representative in Iran.
Mr. KILIC briefed the visitor on the tasks and activities of the Union. He mentioned that the PUIC is requesting to be granted an observer status at the United Nations, and added that His Excellency the President of the PUIC Council will follow up the matter pursuant to his interest in developing the work mechanisms of the Union. The UNDP official wished success for these efforts. The talks between the two sides included the means to consolidate cooperation in matters of common concern.
Secretary General of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) H.E. Prof. Ekmeledin Ihsanuglu visited the seat of the PUIC at the head of an OIC delegation on 17th April 2010. He held a meeting with Prof. Mahmud Erol KILIC, PUIC Secretary General. The talks focused on the means to develop PUIC-OIC Cooperation and utilizing it in an international manner for the benefit of Member States in legislative and administrative fields in order to serve the interests of the great Muslim Ummah.
Secretary General Prof. Mahmud Erol KILIC Addressed the Third Standing Committee Meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean Countries (PAM) in Slovenia.
The Presidency of PAM invited His Excellency Mr. KILIC to attend the meeting held on 15-16 April 2010 at the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia and be one of the key-note speakers at the event which was dedicated to inter-cultural and inter religious dialogue.
Prof. KILIC gave a talk at the meeting on “Inter-Religious dialogue from Muslim Perspective”.
It is worth mentioning that Prof. KILIC has been teaching the topic of inter-religious and inter-cultural dialogue at university level for the last ten years.
H.E. Prof. Mahmoud Erol KILIC Secretary-General of the PUIC expressed his sincere congratulations to His Excellency Mr. Abdel Wahed Radi, on his election as Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Kingdom of Morocco and confirmed that this obvious victory is democratic proof of the high level of confidence given by the brotherly Moroccan people and the august parliament to H.E as a distinguished political leader on the Moroccan , Islamic and international levels.

The Secretary-General of the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Conference , follows with outmost concern and extreme sorrow the development taking place in the sacred occupied territories and exposure of unarmed Palestinian people to continuing Israeli assaults on the Temple Mount, and the perpetual Israeli attempts to obliterate the Islamic and historical identity of our noble holy places, and Israeli disregard for international legitimacy and the flagrant violation of all laws, customs, values and divine laws and international conventions that impose on it not to change the historical legacy of the occupied lands.
The Secretary-General of the PUIC calls on the Islamic countries, international community and all international organizations to stand up for the defenseless Palestinian people and provide all the moral and material assistance to them , and secure the Islamic holy sites from Israeli tampering and contempt .
Secretary General of Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Countries, Prof. Dr. Mahmut Erol Kiliç called on Chairman Senate, Mr. Farooq H. Naek at Parliament House Islamabad, March 16 2010 and discussed with him the ways and means to further increase cooperation between the Parliament of Pakistan and PUIC. While talking to the Secretary General of PUIC, accompanied by Turkish Ambassador to Pakistan, the Chairman Senate underlined the need for sharing experiences of the Parliaments of 51 Islamic Countries who are members of Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Countries for cementing the relations between the Islamic countries for harmonious legislation on various socio-economic and political issues faced by the Muslim world in modern times.
PUIC Secretary General H.E. Prof. Mahmud Erol KILIC sent a message of condolences to Rt. Hon. Edward Kiwanuka Ssekandi, Speaker of the Parliament of Uganda on the occasion of the natural disaster which afflicted some parts of his country recently.
In his message, Mr. KILIC ascertained that the fortitude, perseverance and resilience of the Ugandan Parliament, government and people will help overcome all hardships.
It may be noted that mudslides caused by torrential downpours have devastated some villages in the eastern parts of sisterly Uganda.
H.E. PUIC Secretary General Prof. Mahmud Erol KILIC held several meetings on the sidelines of the 16th Ordinary Session of the Conference of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union, held in Cairo, Arab Republic of Egypt on 2-4 March instant.
Mr. KILIC met with a number of Speakers of PUIC Member Parliaments who were participating in the Cairo Conference.
The meetings included their Excellencies the Speakers of the following parliaments: State of Kuwait, State of UAE, Syrian Arab Republic, State of Qatar, Sultanate of Oman, Republic of the Sudan, and Republic of Yemen. His Excellency also held meetings with Mr. Anders B. Jonhsson, IPU Secretary General as well as Secretary General of the African Parliamentary Union.
Discussion during these meetings focused on ways to strengthen contacts and cooperation between the PUIC and their respective parliaments and organizations in order to serve their common objectives.
Prof. Mahmud Erol KILIC , the Secretary General of the PUIC in a trip to the UAE , had a meeting with H.E Abdul Aziz Al Ghurair , Speaker of the Federal National Council of the United Arab Emirates and President of the PUIC Council on 24 February 2010. In this meeting the latest developments in the Islamic World , ways to activate the PUIC and enhancing parliamentary relations among the member countries were discussed.
PUIC Secretary General Prof. Mahmud Erol KILIC congratulated H.E. Mohammad Abul Kazem Zawi on his election as Secretary of the General People’s Congress of the Great Socialist People’s Libyan Arab Jamahiriya.
In his congratulatory message Prof. KILIC stated that the election of Mr. Abul Kazem Zawi is a shining proof of the great confidence the Libyan people and its General People’s Congress have in his honourable person.
